I'm starting to notice random stress cracks in the fiberglass tub and no I'm not fat. The under side of the tub sounds hollow. The building was built in 1994. I have no water leaks.
My concern is that the landlord will try and stick me for a new tub. I'm planning to contact the property co and give them a heads up.
Any advice before I do this? My lease is up at the end of November and I'm not sure I want to stay in this building.

Good. Unless/until they say anything negative just keep rolling along.

Invite them in for a pre pack condition inspection and be sure to give proper notice.
What's the lifespan of a fiberglass tub? I've seen random numbers all over the place.
Like used cars... it's about how well originally installed & number of users over time.
If installed well and not abused the surface/finish should fail before the tub would fail.
In no case though (absent clear abuse) should a tenant be responsible.
They are usually supposed to put mortor under the fiberglass tub when it's installed. Sounds like they didn't. It supports the weight and wouldn't sound hollow under there if mortor is present. They shouldn't crack like that. I have one that was installed correctly and there is no cracking at all. And it's used often by 2 people at the same time.
They are usually supposed to put (plaster) under the (cast & steel) tub when it's installed.
I like USG "structolite"
But fiberglass tub installation supporting is often done differently.
So there is no "supposed to" absent the makers instruction sheet.
