$600.00 month. Nope. Where is it, San Francisco? NYC? Chicago?

If it suits you, take it. If it doesn't, don't. It's that simple.

It's a no-brainer...either it works for you or it doesn't.

Unfortunately there are plenty of people in our country that cannot afford better for a variety of reasons. There is an old motel in my town that rents rooms with a kitchenette for $150/week. The saddest part is when I am occasionally driving past it when the school buses are letting kids off or on the bus. It saddens me to see the little kids getting off the bus and walking over to the motel. I hope I am never in a situation that necessitates renting a room by the week.

There is no context. In a high cost of living metro area it might be a great deal.

In my area I have noticed almost all the rental property is listed as "weekly" instead of a monthly price. I find it kind of odd but I suspect it originated with a company that owns a number of trailer parks in the county seat (Shelbyville, TN) .

I think a lot of renter look at 160/wk as being 640 per month (160 x 4) instead of the 693.33 per month that it actually is. (160x52/12)

Certainly you realize that, in a free market, you are free to rent it...or not. But I'd never rent such a place, regardless of its location.

Exactly and this is one of my major pet peeves. I have an inherent hostility toward any (non-transient) housing that employs weekly rates, which I regard as a tactic used to scam more dollars out of people who can't do the math.

In a free market, I could pitch a tent in my friend's backyard, or stay in his large shed (which is the size of a 1.5 car garage).

Not $600.00 /month, weekly rates deceive many. Depending on the exact location, it's either just inside Portland or just outside Portland, but the location is poor for those without a car.
