I just had to share this one.

Police: Upper Darby man with potato-filled toilet pulls fire alarm | abc7news.com

In a nutshell, a tenant couldn't get maintenance to respond for weeks to his calls. So, he stuffs his toilet with cooked potatoes, which clog up the toilet. Then, he pulls the fire alarm, resulting in all the tenants being evacuated out into 12 degree weather. Then, he pulls a more serious fire alarm that means special emergency response team has to come, and well, he got arrested for false alarms.

I can understand being really frustrated that maintenance was ignoring his calls. But, wow. Maybe he can plead insanity? Driven insane by a bad landlord?

Police checked and determined the clogged toilet would not have caused a danger to Curry or anyone else in the apartment building.

"Sarge! You got your plumbing kit with you?"

So the tenant stuffed his toilet with cooked potatoes? Sounds like a nightmare tenant to me.

I'm thinking he will be getting his chance for a better landlord because his lease will not be renewed and he'll be shopping for a new landlord. Maybe he can find one that he gets along with better.

He will have to find a landlord who does not do background checks or contact previous landlords. Can you imagine how hard you would laugh if this guy applied to rent from you?

I believe I would fall out of my chair laughing if I Googled his name. Not the worst tenant I've heard of. One in NJ takes that honor. I'll post the link to the story in a new thread. That story should be required reading for any landlord.

I laughed so hard when I read it. And the photo is just precious. I always Googled my prospective tenants' names. Oh man, some people just don't think things all the way through...

I did find it extra funny that the news service included the fact that the potatoes had been cooked.

Yeah, but did he cook them in the oven or the microwave?

LOL, probably exploded them in the microwave first, because the oven is what he's needing fixed by maintenance.
