That might be your answer. He googled your name and found someone who wasn't a real girl.

Dude. Stop. Look for another room. That ship has sailed.

I've been looking for another room.

I just found his wording slightly unsual. That's why I asked the question.

Tons of reasons...

Something happened to a co-worker... she was really upset because all went well and then the owner said she was too nice and decided not to rent to her... I convinced her to let it go.

It wasn't 6 weeks when the Bank posted foreclosure papers... his personal reason was she is too nice for him to take advantage...

Sometimes things really do work out for the best.

I think I gathered why he didn't want to rent me the room.

He asked me about my job which involves law/tax/finance (I'm a law grad).

The fact that I have some legal expertise probably scared him because the terms of his lease were quite shady to begin with.

It's just an idea but Ultarunner's post gave me a small hint.

He wanted the rent in cash which isn't what I'm usually used to on top of not being allowed to state the address as my "primary residence". I think he's trying to avoid taxes, not good.

why don't you just ask him and remove all doubt? instead of speculating for 4 pages, one quick call or email should solve this dilemma.

be prepared (and we better be as well) if he declines to comment. Good luck.

Unless you don't file taxes, don't own a car, don't have a driver's license, never attended any schools or any sort of program, you don't have any friends or family. If you were bred in a lab, grown inside a test-tube and literally lived every second of your life in a bubble wrapped around a faraday-cage, then you may make the statement that you have no web-presence.

And this is all before you even think of paying for info. With even $2.99 you can find LOADS of information.

I was going to respond and then I read this....you hit the nail right on the head. You have to be totally off grid and in a hole not to have internet presence in today's world.

In my state, I can find a boat load of personal financial/legal information for FREE.

Not sure why a 'sorry, you're not the right fit' ruffled the OP's feather so badly.......they're taking it personally and to me that says something about them.
