I don't want to live here. Water coming up, wires on the ground, I am going to push to move out. I just don't know where I am going to go.

By any chance, do you have a hot water heater that might be leaking? We had one leaking in an apartment, and she didn't realize it was leaking, until she got up one morning and the linoleum in the kitchen was squishing when she walked on it. The water got under the linoleum, which was on a concrete slab.

I thought you were in the basement, which is an apartment. I'm confused. But, if the hot water can't possibly leak water that could end up under your carpet, then that's not it.

Sorry lol, our hot water heater is in the basement portion that's actually used as a basement. The front half are apartments, the back half is a basement with the heater, furnace, laundry machines, etc.

So, the man was in the apartment this morning (while I was at work), and the property manager is having him come back out at 8am tomorrow. They asked that I moved all of my furniture to the driest spots in the apartment, because they are going to rip up some of the carpet where it's wet and try to find out if it's coming from the concrete. Oy vey.

They're being responsive and actively working on it. You can't ask for much more than that.

I understand, but it's rather hard to live in an area that is a giant puddle Especially when it's a studio apartment, there's nowhere for me to go, unlike if it was a larger place and it was just one room with the issue.

So, the hot water heater is on the same floor as your apartment? And the same floor as the washers and dryers?

If you are on the same floor and the same concrete slab as the hot water heater and the washers, they could be leaking, and that water could be ending up under your carpet. I have personally seen this happen. And it is not always apparent that the hot water heater is leaking, if it's surrounded by linoleum or carpet. In our case, there was no water on her floor, it all just seeped under the linoleum.

You may want to mention that as a possibility, based on the fact that this happened to me. Maybe they'll get things figured out faster.

Or not.
