Currently $874 here in Tampa FL for a 2BR, 2 bth apt, approx 900 s/f but our rental in Portland OR is $575 (1 BR, 1 bth, approx 700 s/f...I move there on May 31st! BIG savings!!
We're paying 500/mo for a 2 bdrm/1 bath house with a large yard in eastern Indiana. Much better than what a house of similar size goes for back home in Everett, WA:
I'm in St. Petersburg, FL in the hip little historic part of town right by downtown called the Historic Old North East. My wife an I rent an old 2/2 house for $1,200. Houses start at around $300,000 so it would be tough to buy in this neighborhood.
The back yard has a garage converted into a rental and my back door opens up to my neighbors front door, I never go back there. He has kids on the weekend who get up real early and run around the house screaming. I've mentioned it, they don't go right outside the bedroom window so much anymore. I think I have mold, too.
I just refinanced my house at a lower rate and my mortgage dropped from $5400.00 to $4600.00. And that dosen't include any taxes or insurance. It's a 4 bed, 3bath, 2800 sq/ft, with a pool and spa in Southern California. Amazing what you can get in the rest of the country. I think CA. is beautiful and I love the weather but knowing you could move somewhere else and maybe never work another day in your life is powerfully tempting...
