Rent increase and two months deposits at the end of contract
Landlord and Tenant had one year written contract, it is about the end, this is in NC, would landlord be able to ask for a new contract with higher rent and two months deposits instead of one that is the case for current contract?
If the lease is for 1 year then the landlord can charge/request up to 2 months of rent in North Carolina, seeing as your lease is going to end then he can request new terms and etc on a new lease. But usually 2 months rent are only charged to those who have an unusual credit score or put them at risk for not paying their rent and etc.
Try and talk to your landlord to work things out if possible. If you're a good tenant, pay your rent on time, don't do any damage to the house and be a good tenant overall then I see on reason why he should be requesting 2 months rent
