I have lived at this apt for about 3 years with husband and last teen daughter and have loved it and still do . It is in a horrible part of town but i still love it .
With this note everyone got , it will top ours out at 100% raise of rent from when I first moved in and double the parking fees too . .

I am afraid , I dont know what to do . I have been struggling with this and my lease isnt up until Dec 1. This last hike was enough that I am truly not sure if I have enough money to pay the rent much less for months to come . I am in Seattle so this is no surprise to alot of us. Rents here in the area are actively going through the roof .

I am wondering if I could have them move me to another property that belongs to them that is sketchy as heck but less money. I have never had this happen where it finally rose so high that I actually didn't have the income anymore for it .

I wanted to sign a month to month the last time but that would have made it more than this . I was really hoping I could make it through this latest lease before this happened . I dont want to get in trouble for non payment of rent . What do I even begin to say to the office ladies , They are new .

Edit : I just saw a new review about this place from some one who has lived here a year less than I that said : Yet, after two years of living I have seen two rental increases and a 50% increase in water/sewer/ garbage charges .

So I see it's not only me . The rest of their review says they are thinking about bailing , have no idea WHY they would put that in a review but I can't afford to just bail .

It's a tough call... either they want everyone out or the market rent is really that much.

I have one rental in Washington State and have kept the rent the same for 6 years... it is worth it to me to have very good people in my home... if something simple comes up... they let me know and often they already have someone lined up or I do...

My other rentals are all in California with serious rent control... there are very complex formulas that have to be applied to arrive at the percentage rent can increase... just ran one that has not been increased for years... using the rent board rules... the rent could go up 40%... BUT is limited to 10% based on a yearly limit rule.

Have you tried looking further out... there is a lot of territory South all the way to Tacoma and even Olympia...

Rent increases are limited by market factors... when rent approaches mortgage payment level... many will re-evaluate and buy... even if it means having to make serious compromises to do so.

That is insane! Hard to believe that if it is in a less than desirable area that they are able to increase rents 100%.

Not much you can do except try talking to them and negotiating the rent. If you have been good paying tenants for the 3 years you have been there then I see no reason why they wouldn't work with you but you won't know until you try. You have nothing to lose by trying.

There is no law that says they can't raise the rent.

It wasn't quite clear in your post whether they are increasing the rent in the middle of your lease or at your renewal(?) They can't increase your rent until your renewal if it is a year lease so if that is the case that is illegal. But, if you are projecting ahead for the increase in December when your lease is renewing then consider talking to them and trying to negotiate or ask if you can move to the cheaper property at your lease renewal.

This managed by a management co out of cali . The office staff changes monthly . Yes most definitely we are looking to get out of this area going to the south. Its in Sno county almost to the King co border . The infamous Casino Road. I am afraid to say anymore about location . This increase starts in August . The parking and Water , sewer ,garbage has already undergone the double raise the reviewer was talking about . that was a 30 day notice, we all got that note too . I just didn;t realize he'd also had 2 rent increases in 2 years .
Ours is a 10 month lease , it was WAYYYY higher with a 6 , 11 or 12 month lease and certainly month to month . We had to take the cheapest month .

This is supposedly part of a safety thing like the poster here is talking about. They even sent out notes to all of us warning us that keeping safe is our own responsibility and only walk in groups here and preferably not at all after dark . lol jeez . I have rented for decades and have never seen an "every man for themselves" letter before now .

Its gotten really bad, both our cars have been broken into several times and we were robbed on a rainy Saturday night when were coming home from a concert late by a homeless person back in the first part of May . Thank God we only had 10.00 in cash on us , this dude was incredibly dope sick . I hate to talk this way , its embarrassing . Husbands job is in Everett , is why we are right here . He has an opportunity to go to Portland if he would like to . We have lived there to in the past.

A 10 month lease? I have never heard of that. When is your lease renewal? Didn't you say it renews in December? If so, they can not do any increases whatsoever in the middle of a lease term. It is illegal.

And it doesn't make sense that it would be higher with anything longer than a 10 month lease. A MTM or 6 month, yes but not a longer term lease.

Do you have a copy of your lease?

Have you read your whole lease in it's entirety? Again, they can not do any increases in the middle of your lease term. It is illegal no matter what a lease might say. They are definitely doing some illegal things and possibly more.

Are you understanding that you have a legal case against them for imposing increases in the middle of your lease term?

Rental rates, availability, lease terms, deposits, apartment features and specials are subject to change without notice.

and yes I am now that you are telling me , I did not know that before , it says nothing like that in my paper work ,, I copied this of the tweaked website

You seem to be all over the place here. That is typical sales nonsense you can find on every single apartment website and needs to be ignored. Find YOUR lease, the one you signed, and in it are the terms which include things like utilities, who can occypy, for how long, and most importantly to you right now the rate. That one set of documents is the only thing that matters to you right now and you need to find it before you post anything here again. If you don't have it then you need to go to the office and get a copy as soon as they open, they legally have to provide you with it.
