Hi: I am moving to Plattsburgh NY for work in Oct 2015. I am having a very difficult time looking for a newer apartment or Condo. I would prefer hardwood floor due to my allergy. I also want attached garage (preferred) or detached garage. I have to travel more than one hour two to three days of the week and I do not want to spend too much time shoveling the snow. I am looking for 2BR apt or Condo that is newer and designed for professional. Anyone have any suggestions? Your response is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You should post this in the NY forum for more local responses.

Keep in mind that a place like Plattsburg had a glut of housing when the military pulled out. There was so much excess housing that tracts of residential family housing were torn down. Multi story residential housing were also demolished on the base. Even the hospital was redundant and torn down. Developers simple stopped or slowed development because rents were depressed due to a glut of existing housing. In the heyday of the real estate boom, developers started rethinking building and a few newer town home style projects were competed, but the crash stymied development again. So, you have to look hard and pounce when what you want is available.

Suggestions? Up the amount you are willing to pay. Generally when a tenant says they can't find anything to rent what they really mean is that they can't find what they want in their price range.

Default Moving to Plattsburgh

Thank you for all your replies. My budget is around $1200 to $1500.

I hope I can find something that I want. I will be traveling to Plattsburgh to find an apt next week. So far there is not a lot of options that can be found online.
