Over here in Nyc most apartment seekers have to rely on working with a broker or real estate person resulting of a fee usually equivalent to one months rent ( goodie me).

Looking into moving from the hell we've been in for over a little bit over a year. I've been doing the Craigslist thing and so many scammers. No call backs , ignored voice mails etc . Now I'm looking to get help with a broker real estate person. I really need and want to move within 30 days since I'm monthly.

My question is , am I able to work with multiple brokers or just one ? Is this an ethical thing? One I've contacted doesn't reply to text or emails maybe a day later if he does and the other is ok , but kind of slow. I'm still looking on cl myself, but is it ok to sign up with multiple real estate co's at the same time? I don't have time to waste

It's my understanding that as a renter, you can contact as many brokers as you'd like to help you find a place as long as you don't sign an exclusivity agreement with one of them. They get paid via commission from the landlord when they place you in a rental that you like. I'd say contact as many as you'd like until you get some help from one.

That's is incorrect in ny the renters pays the broker not the landlord
