I rent a house in VA my LL lives in Florida. The house I'm renting is 3 years old brought and paid for by the LL. Her son lives next door and recently accepted a job in another state. The house they are selling is 26 years old. They are having a realtor coming to look at BOTH houses. Is this normal?

I'm just curious I'm a bit confused why the realtor needs to see the house I'm renting as well.

Yes, part of one lot. So both sell together.

Okay maybe I wasn't clear the mother paid for the home I'm renting. The son who lives next door is still paying on his house. 2 separate houses.

Okay though Solaire good explanation. :-)

The realtor is viewing the house you lease because your Landlord requested he do it.

Could be they are two totally separate properties, but because son won't be around to keep an eye on Mom & Dad's place, Mom and Dad have decided to get out of the landlord business and are selling as well.

Plausible but highly unlikely the LL had some concerns about the son's realtor and me staying. I think it was the son. I don't have a problem with I'm just wondering.

Lol no. The LL rents and has several properties. The son just wants to move and sell his house. The LL wants me to stay.

I go with the 1st Both homes are on the same property. You can check the Local Real estate Tax office. YES Moms could be Paid in Full & Yes Son is paying off a Loan.... How do you Think he paid to have his home built?

Why don't you just ask the owner if she plans to sell your rental?

Landlords won't always be upfront about whether they are going to sell or not unless the law forces them to. Chances are they have no legal obligation to notify you of their intent to sell. I give it about a 80% chance that they are selling but just haven't clued you in.
