I’m looking to organize an afternoon-to-evening BBQ/networking mixer in the summer for around 25 to 50 attendees. Only the organizers (4-5 people) will stay overnight. Does anyone know if it is allowed to rent an AirBnB place with the explicit intent of doing such an event? Will there be an issue with AirBnB hosts and neighborhoods? Does AirBnB even allow this?

Looking to do this in the Westchester or CT suburbs of NYC(possibly NJ).

Thanks.

You are going to have to ask each individual owner if they will allow it. The corporate offices of air BNB have nothing to do with it.

^^This. I've come across many listings that specifically state no parties are permitted.

OP, I think you will have a difficult time finding an owner agreeing to your scenario. Liability, parking issues, neighbor complaints are just a few that come to mind.

Doesn't that depend on what the meaning of 'party' is?

Not really. A networking mixer that is an all out rager would have the same parking issues as a networking dinner party. If its going to be 50 guests, they'll need parking for at least 25 cars, if not more. That alone could lead to neighbor complaints.

If the house sleeps 6, and there are 25-50 people there, that likely constitutes a "party" in the homeowners eyes.

I think you need to find a different type of venue. With most cities cracking down on STR's, neighbors complaining about them plus the parking issues, liability, etc. I don't think you are going to find a landlord who will agree to you having a party at an AirBnB rental. And yes, a BBQ/Mixer is a party.

I've seen listing for these kinds of things on VRBO and, occasionally, airbnb. Search using the word event.

Try thelse https://www.eventhomes.com

http://www.thebigdomain.com/party-houses

http://parks.westchestergov.com/weddings-at-lasdon

And search Google for your location and event venues.

But, realistically, I'd probably look at a hotel for one stop shopping and they do everything ease.
