Hello moving to the twin cities and rent is really expensive will be going to school full-time . I wanted to know do you think they would let me rent there with one kid who is three. I'm hoping to rent the 2 or 4 bedroom shared apartment they rent by the room. I read the fair housing act but will i still qualify ? examples: The Marshall Apartments - Minneapolis, MN 55414

If I'm reading your post correctly, you want to move yourself and your kid into one bedroom and then share the apartment with another person(s). When I was a college student I sure didn't want to live with a 3 year old. You don't know anything about these other roommates I assume. You might be walking into a situation that isn't the best for your child.

I would assume that no, your 3 yr old child wouldn't be allowed to live in student housing. Do you really want your child exposed to 'college life' at 3 yrs old?

Find yourself a studio or small 1 bedroom for the two of you or find a two bedroom with a roomie that understands you come with a child (and the limitations a child brings to a unit)

Some universities have family housing. Have you inquired about that?
