Evictions and civil judgements both show up on court records, which are online. You're going to have a tough time renting. As a LL, I'm less concerned about someone who defaulted on credit card debt, than about someone who didn't pay the LL, and has an eviction.
Well both reasons come down to money. I'm much more likely to ditch a credit card than not pay rent. I had 7 landlords and 5 ended well, 1 I had to report to Christ Christie about corruption and the last LL evicted me quicker than anything. They probably thought I was the one who trashed the pool. Maybe I should start acting undocumented.

Unless you have a history of not paying credit cards on your reports, if the landlord issues are all that shows up, it means you are more likely to not pay the rent versus not paying credit cards. They can only go by whats on your report as fact of what you pay and don't pay.

I checked out a free report last night. There are 2 credit cards with steady payment history that I later quit paying. There's a medical bill unpaid which I'm told weights heavy. I plan to pay that one. But current community says they only check criminal which I know is completely clean. It's a very blue collar area with single mothers (place has a fb page where people announce thier business). There's quite a bit of competition between rental communities and this one is relatively the least convenient so I can see why they overlook credit. But that eviction with the civil court summons has me slightly worried, they wanted 400 dollars which I couldn't pay at the time. Now I almost see no point if its going to stay there for life, or 10 years. By that time I will own a place. I recently paid money I owed to the power company.
The landlord that was corrupt never sued me. A senators office replied to my complaint and took care of it. Guy had 5 story buildings with no working elevator for the entire 10 months I lived there. I dared him to sue me. He didnt. I took the liberty of 2 free months rent for the aggregation of taking stairs to the 5th floor.

Sounds like it's time to get your shat together. You will own nothing until you do...
Interesting. This is in NC. The office lady said they approve based on salary and criminal background but not credit. I think they're more eagrr to keep units occupied because I saw a few listings on craiglist (and apartments.com etc) the listings were 1 and 2 months old, and one removed yesterday after I did an application. I will know Monday but will keep eyes open. I need a new place in a week. There's several rentals in NC that don't check credit but I'm not comfortable putting my things in some homes.
I suggest you pull your credit reports and see what's on them.
You can do all of them now or one at a time every 4 months and end up with free reports forever.
Thanks.
I received a formal denial letter from the first place I applied to, a restrictive income community. It says my equifax credit score os 571 and my LeasingDesk score is 371 from 0-1000. A credit repair specialist told me my medical debt impacts the most so I will pay that and something else. I can get it up to 700 in a year. I thought it would be worse but my current ongoing bills must be helping.
Did you pull your credit report to see for yourself if it shows up?
