Please explain how an ER physician is going to help with that? Nationally, the median cost of an Emergency Room visit is about $2,000. For that $2,000, you're not getting a consult with a specialist who can properly diagnose and treat the problem. I have gold-plated health insurance. When I had Achilles tendonitis a couple of years ago, I scheduled myself in with a good Orthopedic specialist. An ER physician is the last place I'd go for something like that. They're not trained.

She needed to see some sort of doctor over her leg. Pay like $1/month or not pay the bill. A person needs a functional leg to work. People use the ER as a primary care office all the time when uninsured. An ER doctor passed the same medical school as an orthopedic specialist.

No, absolutely not. That is not an honorable way to behave. But if she really is disabled, she could go to a free clinic to see a doctor to get it certified. Or she could go to a charity that deals with homeless and low income and let them know she can't work because of the leg and can't afford the doctor to certify her for disability.

There are members of the medical community who donate volunteer time, where she could get help without stealing.

I've got some doubts about this disability angle, but I suppose it is worth getting it checked out.

A functional leg doesn’t happen with one visit to the ER. The ER is designed to work with acute problems, not chronic problems that require long-term care from a single physician. An orthopedic surgeon is board certified in orthopedics and went through a residency in orthopedic residency while an ER doc is not. There are some similarities in training, but the residency portion is quite different. Orthopedics is insanely competitive/challenging and not an area that every doctor is capable of doing.

The major medical center (hospital and doctors' offices) in my area has a charity care program. If she can find one similar in her area, her medical care could be free.

And that's why ER costs are so outrageous. They won't do a darn thing about her leg..she won't get past triage. And you're wrong..and ER doctor is not not the same level as an Ortho.

Belle has been to the dr about her leg..go read her previous threads/posts...Belle has more issues than just a bum leg. She can't hold a job and it's not due to her leg.

It seems like she mishandled medical treatment of her leg, which can be considered a contributing factor to her employment issues, which is part of why she has a renting issue right now. Even if she gets a job now, it is still going to be a low wage, service sector job & her housing options will be limited. It isn't impressive that she's struggling in low wage service sector jobs. They aren't easy jobs to do over an extended period of time. I have some empathy over employment issues. I'm an employee, and part of being an employee in the modern economy is having zero job security. Most of us participating in this forum could be terminated at any time with no notice for any reason.

Hi thank you all for the help. I moved out on the 1st. I had to that morning as they said I had to pay or leave. didn’t try to stay. Got rid of a bunch of stuff I didn’t need. Right now I am not staying anywhere. Looked for shelters buttt its hard bc they fill up or its only for if you have kids. Tbh I am okay with that. I have stayed in a shelter before and its not great. I still called around to some but my phone got shut off ( my fault. I just couldn’t pay it).

I might be moving to another state not really sure. Right now I am using wifi from random places.

How will WM or other jobs reach you? Are just walking around (no car) or is someone trying to help you?

What about offering to clean or do housekeeping to stay in the former place or a new motel?
