I didn't know how inconvenient shared laundry was until I had to live with it. Having to plan my life around whether a machine was available, yet alone functioning reliably, or dealing with lost clothes or careless neighbors leaving their machines unattended long after they're done, it was horrible.

Is there interest in an app that will allow you to track availability of machines, a timer/reminder for your laundry, to report maintenance to management, and communicate with your neighbors, be useful?

Bring a book or listen to a podcast while your laundry is spinning?

Shared laundry never made it very far up on my life annoyances list. Unless of course you are someone who can't handle being inconvenienced for an hour or two. If you live somewhere you have to share very long, you soon learn what the daily or weekly use pattern is and can avoid the crowded periods. A great time to do laundry is Friday or Saturday evenings. If one laundry always has broken machines and mess, I find another one, especially one that is attended. If the laundry was a drive or a bit of a walk from my apartment I'd bring a snack, a book, music, those periodicals I never seemed to get around to reading, and make myself comfortable inside or in my car parked outside. Sometimes a bit of enforced inactivity is a nice break from the constant self-imposed rush.
