Hello.
I live in a low-income apartment in California with my parent. I am not currently employed but they are. While doing re-certification for our lease this year I got asked to fill out a form. I can't remember exactly what it was called, but I believe it was something like bank release form. The landlord explained it as me signing to say he can check with my bank.
I've been saving up money for awhile to help my girlfriend pay for a car. But I'm worried that if my landlord sees my bank balance, my parent and I won't qualify for low income anymore.
Is my landlord allowed to see my bank balance? Does me signing that form mean I gave consent for them to see?

Is your name on the lease? I would think if your name isn't on the lease, the landlord doesn't need your bank information.
Sounds like your working off the books and not reporting your income. And yes, they can see your balance and will likely ask you how you manage to save up money without a job.
If you’re over 18, they can and should, count your income/assets.
Agree with that .. folks getting handouts in the form of tax payer funded low income housing should not be able to hide assets of any adult living in the home.
I lost my job this month, so my save up money is from that
You needed to report your income immediately to the housing authority when you started your job. If you did, then there is no reason to be concerned about what is in your bank account. If you failed to notify them, you and your parents could lose your low income housing benifits...plus fines and possible jail time.
I did. My landlord knows when I started my job and when I lost it. I also provided regular pay stubs.
My question is, would having a couple thousand in savings put us over the income limit?
No. Your bank account balance reflects your savings from your reported job.
