I’ve never seen this . My friends lease prohibits them from self cleaning of the carpets during their tenancy. They have been in the unit a little over 1 yr. they have younger children that spend a lot of time playing on the carpet. They own a nice upright carpet stream cleaner and would like to clean the carpet. Can the landlord prohibit this?
Sounds as if the LL is hoping to avoid the DIY disaster involving a tenant and a poor quality rental carpet cleaner that ends up doing more damage than good. Why don't they explain what they want and ask the LL what would be acceptable? Approach it cooperatively and build some trust on both sides.
Well you could suggest to your friends to tell the LL that the Carpet needs Cleaned Before they renew the Lease. One of my neighbors did this Next Lease we were allowed to clean it ourselves

Yes.
As noted above, improperly used carpet cleaners can cause damage.
Talk to the LL, just ask how they can get the carpet cleaned.

No they can't prohibit it, they can just make you pay for any damage you cause.
I would suggest they tell the LL to have it professionally cleaned at the LL's cost at least twice a year if he prohibits it.
Lolol you’re a funny little bean aren’t you? We both know I don’t live in Dunbar ( remember I’m one of the elite and have higher standards) and that has nothing to do with this thread nor does it make any sense.
A landlord can prohibit a tenant from using a personal carpet cleaner on their carpets. Most leases are quite clear about carpet cleaning. But most trailers in Suncoast have cheap vinyl floors so I’m not sure why you’re responding.

I had a tenant clean the carpets. They left so much soap and water the carpet started to mildew. I had to replace the carpet and padding.
