I don't know about "no help", but I suspect that kids with autism can live in a standard house. They don't need specialized doorways, or roll-in showers, or doorbells for the deaf, or wheelchair ramps.
The "reasonable accommodation" for autism is that the landlord must not reject for no other reason than autism, it is not that the landlord must provide a very convenient laundry room.
There is reasonable accommodation for autism. There are special classes in public schools and I suspect that you are living in subsidized housing, so the government is paying a big chunk of your rent because you have autistic kids.
No doubt that life is difficult for a single parent who has two kids with autism, but that isn't enough to qualify for specialized handicapped housing when the kids don't have any need for specialized housing.
