Landlord has a tenant who did not pay the rent for last 3 months. This is in NC and NC does not process eviction currently. What options does landlord might have?

Seem to recall this question coming up somewhere on C-D in the last day or so.

One option was "cash for keys".

The ban on evictions is June 20th. You will have to wait til then to start the process.

Is it you can't even file the eviction paperwork or that the courts will not be holding any non emergency eviction hearings? I know in some states, courts still let you file, just you have to wait for the court to reopen before they act on the filing. But you'll at least be in line and not standing way back at the end.

Why didn't this landlord take action when the rent was unpaid the first time? 3 months ago could have had them out in a couple of weeks.

My state you can file. Just cant get an order for eviction yet.
But it will take a couple months to get a court date anyway.
