So I have a quick question looking over our new lease I noticed the amount due on the day we take the keys there is a deposit and prorated rent due. The prorated rent due is $100 more than what our rent is due.
I reached out to our landlord. If it's prorated does this mean we could move in earlier or is it prorated for the month we start?
Prorated means the amount due for a short month. If the rent is due on the first and you move in 10 days before the first, you owe 10 days rent. Then on the first you owe the rent.
Maybe the bill is the deposit and rent and the $100. is the prorated amount for the time you move in before the rent is due in full.
Some housing providers must have a full month's rent before you can move in, so if you move in a week before the end of the month, you can't get in for just one week's worth of rent. You will pay for the ( next) full month, plus that extra week.
Since no one here has the slightest idea about what you are being billed for, I suggest that you call your new landlord and ask him.
