I live in a complex building and right now there an electrical issue that is interfering with my cable and internet service. Whatever the issue is its causing the cable wire to melt outside my window and that prevents me from having a signal. Plus I need the internet to work from home which is how I pay rent. I submitted a request today online and after 5 hours it marked as completed without any kind of confirmation that it was fixed. So I told them to not close the case because it's a ongoing issue that is interfering with other services. The message I got from the rental office is maintenance is waiting for the electric company to come out and look at the wiring of the building. So if this is not resolved by 3/1 I can't see any rent being paid since today is 2/16/21. I clearly explained that this is a serious issue and needs immediate attention and maintenance is closing open cases and the situation is not resolved.

Why should any tenant who pays rent sit in their apt all weekend with no internet and cable?

Because that is reasonable and would be the same thing you would do yourself. If you owned your own home. And also because your are staying there and have not moved.

If this is a problem with the feed to the building. They cannot fix that themselves and has to be done by the main electric company. And depends on their schedule.

I would call and see if they have a date yet.

Any chance a neighbor would allow you to connect to their WiFi ? Assuming such exists in the building.

That's not an option because once the cable wire is melted, I no longer have a signal to connect to any wifi

Sounds like you should be contacting the CABLE Co.

I'm still trying to make sense of how the "electrical" issue is impacting the "cable" service and causing the "cable" service wire to melt.

The cable guy showed me the melted cable wire outside my window that is being caused by the electrical wiring above. it has happened twice in 2 weeks. Comcast came out on 2/7 and noticed the melted cable wire and then again on 2/14 and noticed the same thing. So the new wire is probably going to melt again in 6 days if the wiring isnt addressed by electric company

It's electric wiring about my window that is causing the cable wiring to melt after 5 days.

That makes zero sense.... is your cable wire wrapped around a live electric wire? These wires aren’t connected... so how it being melted??

Why aren’t you calling the electric company and asking them to come out and take a look? Aren’t you concerned about a fire? Make sure your renters insurance is up to date.
