At our complex there is ALWAYS a washer and or dryer out. I'm so frustrated not having my own washer/dryer anymore! The laundry just piles up and it's too much for me to handle. I never have enough quarters (we don't have a change machine here). My husband doesn't see it's serious until he needs a shirt or underwear.

I simply cannot carry a ton of laundry back and forth just to have 'broken machines' suck up my coins. The management has not acknowledged my complaint when I lost 2 dollars last week. It's so frustrating!

The only 'local' laundry is full of very strange people and not in a nice area. Is it me, or do people STARE a lot at laundromats? Duh, I am doing laundry like you....(creepy person).

Today I went to do one load after scrounging up a few quarters and the damn machine ate them... This was right after my dog broke loose off the leash and nearly ran away.

How can one day be so sucky after only 3 hours???

Does your laundry offer wash and fold service?

It was a godsend for me when I didn't have a Washer Dryer, and was not that much more expensive than doing it myself at the laundromat.

Can you get yourself a portable washing machine that you can hook up to your kitchen or bathroom sink, and then just roll into the closet when you don't need it? They're not huge, but if you've got it right there you can do a few small loads and they work great.

There is only ONE laundrymat in your area? Keep looking. There is another.
Drycleaners take laundry by the pound. I always try to look for a place that has a couple laundry places near by when I look for an apt. Washers and dryers that get used a lot break. Its just the way it is.

Be happy that you have a dog to lose and clothing to wash. It can always be worse.

We are not allowed to have a washer/dryer in the apartment as per the lease.
There are really only 2 laundromats in the area. Seriously.

Thanks for the replies.
I was just having a bad morning, but still...I have a pile of unwashed clothes!!

Who owns the machines? The complex or do they hire a service?

There is a washer/dryer in the apartment we are in right now. Most newer apartment complexes either have both of them in the apartment or they can be rented and put into and installed in a laundry room in the apartment. However, the last apartment we rented did not have either (and none were available to rent) and that was why there was a laundry room onsite. We always made sure we had enough quarters to do laundry on Saturday early morning (like 5AM). Actually, we would get our laundry done faster in a laundry room b/c we would use three washers. In the house we use to own, we only had one washer/one dryer......took longer! I would always help my wife do laundry and I'd even do it myself sometimes and let her sleep in. Only time we ever would use a "public" laundry mat is when we absolutely had to.
Perhaps you could get your husband to help you......only a suggestion.
