Yes. On the other hand, I'm probably moving into a house next month. So hopefully I'll only have good stories from here on out, and my crazy neighbors can inflict their mental conditions on others.

My landlady admitted there had been one or two comments. I never heard anything negative firsthand though.

No kidding! I've been commuting so much that I'm lucky to get an hour a week.

We enjoy where we live. The landlord rehabbed the entire place (a 1920's twin) and did a great job. He lives right across the street so we can always get him here when there is a problem. We also have two large dogs and he is very tolerant of the dogs. He even mows our lawn since we don't own a mower anymore.

That being said, we are also good renters. We pay rent early, do things like plant flowers and decorate to take care of the property and let him know quickly when there is a problem that needs his attention.

It is a win-win for everyone.

Hey, I know this thread is old, but wanted to say I'm happy where I live. I've been renting here since 1994. With health problems, being a single mom with three kids and working a full-time job, I haven't had the energy to buy and maintain that. It's less expensive for me to rent right now and the place I live in feels like home. I've gone through three owners here. The current owner lives in another state and we have to take care of the yard, which I HATE, but I'm overall happy since he said he won't raise my rent as long as I live here. I just wish he'd give me a place to store a lawnmower, as there is no small building or garage in which to store one. But he does repair things, although that can take a while. But I just got new carpeting downstairs about a year ago. The place feels like home since I raised my kids here. And I don't have the energy to make repairs! I live in a duplex-townhouse type of building. The town in which I reside doesn't offer a lot of good rentals.

Well it's good that you are happy at home. Makes a huge difference in someones life. As for me, I am eying other apartments now. I have lived in 5 apartments overall during my time in NY. I am getting the need for a change of scenery. The moving part itself is not fun though. My place currently is comfortable but it's a bit loud at night sometimes, And the sidewalks are dirty. I miss my old area of Gravesend in Brooklyn. Something so peaceful there.

As a single, unattached man, I can go anywhere however.
