I have mentioned before, you should check out LL as well and start with the public records and the property appraisers website to check if the property has a lien on it.
I came across a website that is IMO a very nice tool to check out if a tenant is a bad tenant.
I have no clue how many people have added bad tenants so you still have to check other websites or do background checks, but if more Landlords would add bad tenants than it can be a great tool.
I hope there will be a similar website for Landlords so both sides can report them since we all know on both sides there are good and bad ones.
I have no relation to the website and just came across this one when I googled bad tenants. I really like the website so who ever is behind it did IMO a great job and unfortunately must have dealt with a very bad one.

No kidding. I was thinking the same thing. When we relocated here we were unaware of being able to check out our LLs through the court. Once things got a little weird around here, LL calling us drunk looking for our pool guy that she happened to be having an affair with, to me walking out of my house finding my LL drunk, and digging under one of the bushes with a hoe, on our property looking for her cell phone at 10 in the morning. Once we pulled their court history and found out they have 18 complaints against them, all from the residents of this neighborhood, and 8 DUIs, we knew we were in trouble.
Thank God our lease expires on Sept 1st. My husband and I both know that we're going to have to take them to court to receive our deposits back. I have a feeling they don't like to part with their money, that or they may need it what with all their lawyer/court fees.
8 DUIs, I don't know where you live, why someone with this
many isn't in jail, is beyond me. Thats a whole other thread though.
