On my lease renewal as per the NY City rent stabilization code section 2523.5a my rent increase was 4.5% under column c with the rent increase; under column d there is an additional $6.77 listed as "applicable guideline supplement"

what is the applicable guideline supplement?

I know I'm bringing this back from the dead...but I am not getting a straight answer about this either.

My parents just got their renewal lease in the mail with the customary 6% 2-year increase in Column C...but in Column D there is an additional just under 3% increase called an "Applicable Guideline Supplement".

I can't get a straight answer as to what that is. Column D is blank on their previous lease renewals. They've lived in that apartment over 30 years...I don't want to see them taken advantage of.

Good answer.

Better answer: why doesn't the owner (or any owner in this forum) come clean and step up with an explanation? And on my parent's lease, it's more like $30 a month, which I think is pretty substantial for something undefined.

"Come clean"? So we're supposed to assume it's a scam by the landlord, not a state law? People just make up terms like "applicable guideline supplement"?
