Working class suburb of Boston, about 900 sq feet, 3 bedrooms/1 bath. $1800 a month plus electricity, oil (running about $400 a month this winter), and internet split between roommates. Landlord pays for water and some snow removal (steps, walkway, sidewalk - we're responsible for the driveway). There's parking for 3-4 cars shared with the downstairs neighbors, as long as two cars are willing to tandem park and a 3rd is willing to drive over the curb.
It's pretty cheap for the area. The neighborhood is safe, but not convenient to public transit and the schools are iffy, so the cost is low. If we lived a little closer to Boston (approximately 8 miles away) or closer to the subway system, we could expect up to $1000 more a month.
900 sq feet, two bedroom, two full bath, covered patio, covered car port. $800.00 a month which includes all utilities and snow plowing of the sidewalks, patios and street (no air conditioning because it doesn't get that hot here in summer and nights are in the upper 50's. Gas heat, gas stove, gas hot water). The view of the 14,000 foot mountain range outside my living room window is free.
825 sqft for $250. My landlord pays water, I pay electric and for a propane tank for gas (for hot water and cooking). But I live in Tijuana where rents are low.
I am moving to Madison, Wi., where the University of Wisconsin is located. Hence, the rent per square footage can be outrageous!
I am not a student, but through due diligence, I have found a one bedroom in a not-so-seedy part of town for $700 for 630 square feet. Believe me, this is a deal! I could have found similar, for $25-$50 less, in several "gunshots heard frequently" neighborhoods.
Plus, I paid no pet deposit, nor do I pay a monthly pet fee, for my one cat!
In Denver currently in a 2/2 910sq ft at $1410 with all extras included (dog, 2 car ports, water, trash, sewer) Moving to a 1/1 1200sq ft with garage for $1630 with garage with only dog included.
I have two rentals at the moment, one is $900 for 1800 sq. feet and 4 bedrooms, the other is $825 for 1400 sq. ft. and 3 bedrooms. The 2nd one is in the better location.
