When I was a kid in the 60's thought this was the hottest car. Rarely saw any of them on the road and never see or hear of them now. Was it a decent "ride"?

It was a very out of mainstream thinking car in many aspects and outside of the styling and ergonomic exercise, was left behind fairly quickly even by Saab .... hard riding, noisy were very prominent aspects.

the early ones had a two-stroke engine of dubious running characteristics, replaced later by a Ford small displacement V engine of a whole 65 HP. Performance wasn't a strong suit .... and the Saab transmission was inadequate for the task.

I got to drive one of these back in the early 1970's, and the owner was proudly showing me the "free-wheeling" feature of the transmission. It was disconcerting, not an advantage to have it because there was no engine braking when it was in that mode.

Like any car, there's always some collectability to it. So there's a few that remain which have some value. But I wouldn't ever want to drive it.

B-I-L had one. I towed him home a few times. Kinda interesting design, but fiberglass body was NOISY. The Opel GT was a better choise of that vintage (not as economical). But MUCH more powerful / fun
