My husband and I are planning to move west when we take early retirement (55 yrs) in early 2011. We have worked hard for 30 years, want to remain active and want to “play” for the next 10 years or so in a different area. I realize that the best way to check things out is to visit, but this forum is so helpful that I wanted to pose the question out to those with knowledge.
Has anyone experienced either of these two communities? Does anyone have additional suggestions?

We had explored TX as well as AZ when we were looking for our last spot. AZ won hands down just due to the humidity, taxes and bug issues TX has. We liked TX but AZ had the best as far as weather goes, even the heat is far more tollerable than it was in TX. We have not looked into the Del Webb developments until recently. I do know our property taxes are far less than TX as well and that was the main reason we we chose AZ
