Yes, I know. I have made all mine using sheets & Velcro. They are for protection only so I don't have to dry clean them as often. I washed a down comforter once and all the feathers & down stuck together so it was flat as a pancake. isn't the maximum width of fabric 60"? I'd have to measure that's wide enough. I have a antique 4 poster bed - it's high so I use queen sheets for the duvet.
P.S. I wouldn't sleep "on" a down comforter. Ick - you'd be cleaning it all the time even if you covered it - but why bother with all that.
I think you can get upholstery fabric wider than 60". Not sure it would be terribly comfortable wrapping a comforter, though.
But fabric-by-the-yard is so expensive any more that if I had to make a duvet cover I'd look for bedsheets to make it from.

I did just that. I bought flannel sheets, one sheet with a print and the other with a solid.
I love it and it was so easy to make that you can make a few in different colors.
I got the sheets at Walmart because they sell them separately so I bought 2 flat sheets (flannel).

I've done that too. The sheets area the right width, so much easier. But if you want a specific, truly classy pattern in decorator mode, buy fabric even if you have to piece it.
Cannot wait till we're down to one quilt on the bed instead of two. Then we know spring is here.
Ever get upset over the death of a celebrity and wonder where the heck did that come from?
Leonard Nimoy passed away. I met him twice.
It's like my favorite uncle died.
The universe gives and the universe takes away.
Damn.
Yes, and sometimes it's not even a matter of having ever met or known them but they just seem to be someone you've related to somehow.
I have absolutely no idea why the death of Princess Diana affected me as if I had known her personally but for some reason it seemed very personal.
With Nimoy, even though it was not a character he created, he will forever remain in my mind as the epitome of logical thinking and exemplifying the ability of the body being able to heal itself.
I have ever since called total rest during an illness, "pulling a Spock"

I forgot about Princess Diana. I also felt terribly sad when John Lennon, John F Kennedy, Jr. and Robin Williams died.
