Our heat wave finally broke - it's been over 90 here in the city and we have no air-conditioning. Last night the fog rolled in and it felt great. First good night's sleep since Friday.
Off to Myrtle Beach next week with my decorating friend to measure and decide on paint for my new home. Need to meet with contractors about flooring and some other minor renovations.
225 more days until retirement.
Here's a radical, revolutionary thought: There are rational, objective truths which exist outside of and independently of our own emotional fields. Not everything is personal.
But, because one only perceive the world through one's own senses, one will never objectively perceive the same thing as the next person. So while I agree that there are truths that exist outside of subjectivity, essentially everything *is* personal.

Some people have an ability to see themselves as others see them, in other words an ability to get outside of themselves and view their situation from afar, as it were. I am not claiming that ability is absolute, so perhaps as you say, everything remains personal to a certain extent. The extent is really the question. Lamentably, for some people everything is personal, while for others the extent of the purely personal is substantially reduced as the extent of the "objective" expands.
Perhaps another way to view this question would be the degree to which we are ruled by emotions versus the degree to which we are ruled by rationality. We all have emotions - to deny them is dangerous and delusional - but we can strive to refuse to be ruled by them. I think we have all known people who operate almost entirely in the emotional arena and that is pretty scary.
Interesting report on NPR tonight. This could explain why we are good with certain people and not at all with others—our microbes just don't like each other, they don't mix. And it might possibly explain why the people hanging out/living in one location attract us or not—it's the microbes interacting. And why we get together with a certain partner and years later split...our and their microbes have turned against each other. Well, it's a start, lol.

LOL! And those people who claim the most stridently that they see things "correctly" are almost always the ones who are the worst at it.
Yeah. The subjective and objective (even if we can't directly perceive it) both exist. The trick is to be able to accept and handle both.
My thyroid ultrasound showed multiple nodules on it. Having blood work tomorrow. Then an appointment with an endocrinologist.
Anybody have this experience? I am pretty nervous about it.
Thanks.
Pardon my ignorance, but I had no idea thyroid was a specialty of an endocrinologist. I thought Endos were concerned with the Pancreas and diabetes. I happen to have an Endo because Type 2 Diabetes runs in my family, my father had it and my older brother was diagnosed with it ... and I myself am in a pre-diabetic stage.

You learn something new every day.
When I was browsing the endocrinologists in my area, I noted that many of them included diabetes and pancreas. I am sure there is a really good connection between them, but right now too tired to look it up.
The endocrine system includes both the pancreas and the thyroid and a few others. It includes any gland that secretes directly into the blood system.
