For those feeling the winter blues already...yes, vitamin D and maybe...cod liver oil or other fish oil for the omegas.

It gets dark here really early. I'm not a morning person, I don't get going till 9:30 or 10:00, so the day is really short for me. We've had a string of gray misty/rainy days and now it's cold enough for winter coat. Bright colors and lights indoors, and something to go out for every day even if it's to a bookshop or cafe is a good idea. And seeing friends as often as possible. During preretirement years we may not notice the winter so much; now with all the time on our hands we do.

I had blood work last week and received the results today. My thyroid levels are low, so they also included a prescription for synthroid. Maybe that will help.

Awww big hugs coming your way! Not sure if my children will make it out here to visit at Christmas or not. But even if they don't, it will be a relief over the last few dysfunctional family get togethers. I'm sure you're going to be working very hard during the upcoming weeks.

Once you have time for a break, we need to plan your visit to Cochise County

That means you've signed a listing agreement with the agent, s/he can show the house, and you'll consider offters but it's not in the MLS and there's no advertising or sign in the yard.

I recently had an ultrasound of my thyroid and it showed multiple nodules on it. Preliminary bloodwork at my primary care's did not show any "red flags." But have an appointment with an endocrinologist 12/18. My first thyroid experience. And I am a bit worried. I have had fatigue, moodiness, go from hot to cold in short time. No red flags = no cancer? I hope. Is synthroid the usual treatment?

For hypothyroid, yes and Synthroid is a simple fix. I take the generic Levothyroxine and have for about 20 years. So easy to get better (takes about 6 weeks) and feel like your old self. My hair doesn't fall out as much as before medication. And I am not in the fog anymore.

I take 137mcg on one day, and then 125 mcg the next day. There is no pill that is halfway between those two. Costs about $3 a month. Easy fix.

Thank you PhxBarb. Hope that is all I need to have done. Does that pill help with weight problems?

Yes synthroid is the general prescription. There are others.

The very first doctor that diagnosed me said, do not think of this as a diet pill! I didn't. I worked hard to take off the pounds. Feeling better overall made it easier to go to the gym.
