All taxes (corporate and individual) need to be reduced, not increased. And the Federal government needs to cut (STOP) out-of-control and careless spending.

Would this include reducing taxes for the nearly 50 percent of households not paying any federal income tax...and sending even larger "refunds" to those bottom 40 percent who already receive refunds greater than the taxes they pay during the year? Would it include reducing taxes on the 60+ percent of corporations that already pay zero federal income tax?

I'm all for big cuts in federal government spending...but I'm also for complete revamping of the tax code to create a fair, level playing field for individuals and corporations. Unfortunately, the corruption (relationship between politicians and the tax code) in our country makes it difficult for me to believe this will ever happen.

And where would this get us? Just deeper in the deficit hole... Given a choice between two plans, anyone other than a raving lunatic is going to choose the one that requires the lower tax burden. Nobody's taxes will go up and a lot of wealthy folks' taxes will go down. All of that adds up to lower revenue, which leads to higher deficits.

It's nice to talk about deficit reduction, balanced, budget, lower taxes, etc etc etc. Yes, spending must be cut significantly, but the bottom line is there's no way the US will ever balance a budget without some reasonable increase in revenue. It just ain't gonna happen. Unfortunately, any candidate who even hints at increased taxes is doomed from the very start.

We've never paid 20% in taxes. Apparently he's aiming at the rich and the too-stupid-to-figure-it-out folks.

The Perry Plan seems void of many details. However, since he would keep the old tax code (which is a hopeless mess) and add the 20% flat tax option, it appears he is only adding another layer of complexity to an already messed-up system. The only benefit will be for the super rich who may actually be paying more than 20% in taxes. The end result would be to increase the budget deficit.

All in all, the Perry plan looks like something a couple of guys just might dream up while watching football and drinking beer...too much beer.

Perry's plan suggests that he is yet another dumb-as-dirt meathead with a "theory" absent any idea of its consequences, unintended consequences, and long-term ramifications.
