i dvr the ball dropping in times square and watch it the next day so i dont have to stay awake. lol
How come you're not out there with the cheering crowds in TSq? That would be part of the fun of living in NYC.
Where I am, in the closest small city the ball is on top of a hotel and it goes up instead of down. Everyone is done with attending various performances and gathers in the street for the big moment. I used to love being in the crowd on a cold starry night experiencing that event.

I have suffered through a few 'card nights' on NYE. (I have played cards about 3x in 50+ yrs)
Actually having a few friends for games is the most fun I've had on NYE. (the 'potluck' food is the best part'), I can deal with active games like Gestures, but generally as a farm kid, games weren't a very high priority. (we were pooped).
Most memorable NYE is watching friends panic and get ready for Y2K. I helped many get Generators installed, and haul fuel barrels up until the last minute... (but I was the only person that ended up with a DOA IBM PC,,,). I had to jumper the wires and short the MB battery for several yrs each time it rebooted. Then it woke up and thought it was 1984... (close enough )
The Baby Boomers club here at Laguna Woods Village Active Senior Community in Orange County, CA is having a dinner and dance New Years Eve. There's about 350 or 400 members in the club, but I think attendance at the New Years Eve dance is limited to 200 members and guests. If it's anything like it's Woodstock II celebration this past summer, it should be fun.
It'll be our first NYE party in years. It's walking distance so we won't be on the roads. Also, we're new to a 55 plus subdivision where everyone seems way older than us so we figure by midnight we'll be able to flush out a few folks our age who are still standing.

We do the same thing every year, wife goes to bed early, I stay up and watch a movie. The next morning we get up, watch the parades, then football.
