I'm wanting a summer job in Alaska. Applying for a summer job is totally new to me! Does anyone have any tips for a senior applying for this type of job??

My first tip would be to read the Alaskan forum like it's the Bible. You may not want to carry through with your plan after that. You also didn't say what type job you're looking for. In a state with about 7-8% unemployment during summer months, I'm betting that the locals have a much better chance of landing a job than someone coming in for 3 months.

There's a site I found once that deals with retiree jobs. Wait...

Okay, maybe not just for seniors, but an interesting site nonetheless.

Summer Jobs and Seasonal Jobs in Great Places | CoolWorks.com

Here's the section that I remembered: http://www.coolworks.com/older-bolder/

The biggest factor in getting a job in Alaska is whether the person is actually here in state. That will increase odds tenfold for someone looking for a job. Our organization is always hiring for positions and it is so much more advantageous for the job seekers who are ready to work and living in the community. I have to believe this holds true for most summer jobs.
