I agree that one needs to consider that there will be some expenses for health care, and I should have added that statement to my post. I was objecting to the inclusion of an absolute worst-case scenario as an example.

You have a good, common-sense approach to things. Articles like that are nice checklists just to see if some aspect of retirement planning has slipped by us, but they are not the be-all-and-end-all.

I give everything I read a critical eye. Just cause some authority wrote it doesn't mean they're right or that they are right for me. But I read a lot and I can at times learn something new. I think anyone is totally crazy to base their life decisions based on what some guy's article and opinion say.

Take what you and Escort said and combine them and you have Bankrate.Com. Topics and calculators that lead you to taking advantage of one of their sponsors/advertisers. They have a lot of calculators not all of which are complete.

I retired when work ceased to be fun and enjoyable. It was mind and soul easing. The rest simly fell into place as I had rather expected it would.
