How are you coping with forgetfulness not to be confused with memory loss. (ignorant, accident)

The other day I looked in the tool drawer and could not remember why..then suddenly it comes to me that I wanted a screw driver to fix something..Then I thought...that would have been a total waste of time...you really don't need to fix that thing that you never use - throw it out.
Hey now! Guys are SUPPOSED to fix things. It's what we do. Didn't you get the memo?
Blah,blah,blah...more psychobabble. So what's your point? Other than to make yourselves feel validated by becoming a regular on some forum and beating up on 'outsiders'?...But ok if engaging in pseudo-intellectualism keeps said mind sharp then whatever makes you feel better.
If my initial post embarrassed you; I did not mean to do so. My jaw dropped when I read your reply to Robyn and I did, in fact, giggle. However, I was "ignorant" in the slang sense, i.e. ignoring social norms (at least on this forum) and that was wrong of me. I should have kept my reaction to myself and for that I apologize.
That said, if you would like to continue posting in a forum about retirement and other senior related issues (and I usually enjoy posts from younger people) you may want to consider that the majority of posters on this particular forum are older and highly educated. We disagree often among ourselves, but you will note that it is the rare poster who is snarky. Most of us avoid the political forum for just that reason.
BTW, I am replying to your response to EscortRider's post because of your accusation that he engages in "pseudo-intellectualism" and is seeking validation. First, a quick search of EscortRider's former posts will reveal that he is in fact, highly intelligent. Second, there are few of us on this forum who are seeking validation. At this point in our lives, most of us are well past the developmental stage where we need to seek validation. That's one of the few joys of aging, you realize you no longer need to seek the approval of others.
My Dad, 83 and I, 60 both experience forgetfulness, mainly a loss for a certain word, or maybe a place from our past. I find it quite normal to be walking around and forgetting what I was going to do. Memory loss to me is more like saying something, then forgetting that you just said it. My Mom did that, she would tell me, "I just told you about blah, blah" and I would say, "Um no you didn't Mom". I just let her win the arguments.

Dang, Lenora...tried to rep you, but got the message that I have to "spread it around".
Your dating yourself. I go back to that point too. You probably remember using computers that had been programmed in UNIX as well.
My first computer came with 64K memory, no screen (it required a television since it had a RF switch), a casset player external to the computer, and a single sided single density 5 1/4 floppy disk drive external. $1000 and my wife hit the roof when I bought it. Yikes
The computers didn't have modems back then either ... do you remember the first monitors. You didn't touch the monitor screen with your fingers or hands due to the oil in our skin. We bought our grandson a new iPad for Christmas and it's fingers all over the screen now!
I do remember UNIX but DOS stays with me as I still have all the original books with DOS commands and boxes of floppy disks. When Billy Gates came our with Windows a friend of mine called and asked 'have you heard anything about this new winners operating system." LOL
The only problem I really have with my memory is people's names from long ago ... in my head it's like I know you but can't recall your name. Eventually after talking to them I can drag it out of the gray matter in my brain.
