According to CBS NY, UK scientists may have accidently found a new medication for chronic neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's while doing Type 2 diabetes research.

The article is here:

Scientists Find Alzheimer’s Treatment While Trying To Cure Diabetes « CBS New York

The research was published in Brain Research and the press release by the university (which has more info than the CBS article) is here on a science news website:

There are also videos with the last link. So far the research has only been done on mice.

"Impaired insulin has been linked to cerebral degenerative processes in type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer's disease."

Since memory loss seems to impact older people more, I'm just posting it here as an FYI.

I've heard it called 'old timers' a million times by people who forgot where they put their keys somewhere etc. They are joking but I never thought it was very funny. Now that my wife has got it the humor has really gone out of it.

They should try cannabis. I think the THC in the plant (the stuff that gets you high) will have a positive effect. I know it helps with memory. Cannabis has been around forever. It has been used medicinally for centuries.

They have known for years that there is a link between diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
