I have been playing with an exciting idea today; instead of working where we are til we can afford to fully retire why not go ahead and find our property and move and both work part time where we move til we can fully retire. We both have done alot of things so we are flexible with finding work anywhere.
This can be a good alternative. If I were living in a area where I would want to be if there were no other constraints, then retiring as soon as I'm eligible might not look so darn good. For making a move before I can retire is not really an option. But if it were, I would probably do it.
Exactly. I figure, even with my little nest egg, I can find a place in the country somewhere and find peace.
yes, that is right idea you have, this is the way people where meant to live,
In my opinion, not killing them self everyday with stress, had enough of that,
now just reaping my rewardsyou can live simply, remember, you will be
saving money also not going to work, gas, tolls, bus train, car, lunch, cloths
I've always cooked from scratch every day, but I hope to also grow vegetables (did it all the time before condo life) and raise chickens (helped out on the farm on home). Now, making your own wine—that is something I definitely need to learn how to do.
I have made a lot of beer long ago. I do enjoy making it, I just never drank as much beer as I made. We always gave most of it away.
We plan on doing cider soon. I planted 16 apple trees this April, they are growing nicely. Next spring [2009] I can begin training them to produce, and build a fruit press. The following year we should begin to see some apples. By December of 2010 we should be taste testing our first cider.

Wine is very tricky.
I have done a little wine. Beer tends to be much easier, and a good place to learn the 'lab' skills.
We are making a lot of vinegar now days.
