I know of a couple who has done this. Hubby was retired, and wife was not yet 60 at that time. She is the RN. They bought an RV and hubby stayed "home" while wife was on the clock. They are Southerners, so they chose locations from the midwest to the western states where they had not visited previously.
They did that for 3 years; then returned home last winter. They are talking about doing it again this next year if they can find a situation that is appealing.
Thanks. An option I like. Typically travel Nurses do 13 week assignments. I think a couple of those per year should help out.
Yes, they had short stints at most of the hospitals where she worked. However, one turned out to be around six months (or maybe she did 2-13 week stints at the same facility).
They were in New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and I think they may have done some in Oklahoma and Texas, as well. Not sure how often they returned home during those three years, and not sure how they worked out parking their RV. They have a son who lived in their house while they were away.
