At what age did you retire? Did you retire with a traditional pension? Did any of you retire to a university town? I am planning on retiring with two small pensions, SS, and a modest 401k plan. I really enjoy the feel I find in university towns and hope to retire near a university town near the mountains. I really like Missoula, MT and love outdoor activities (hiking, XC-skiing, nature photography). I'm always open to town suggestions to relocate to.
Also, I plan on retiring at 62. THX or your replies!
retired at 54 with "traditional" (state gov) pension, work menial part time job, just got SS/DH retired so may quit job. DH retired a few months ago at 65 (same pension)...he seems to be having a hard time finding structure/focus
I retired at 60. Federal Civil Service. I could have retired at 55 but put it off because I was still having fun doing my job. At age 60 I decided that I wanted to retire and slow down a bit and read more.
Retirement is heaven and I've been experiencing it for a few years now.

53, with a pension.
Love Missoula, lots of my family there. Hike up to 'The M'...........drive careful on Hwy 93 going up to Flathead lake (most dangerous 2 lane in the state) and get used to wood stove smoke in the Winter.
worked 38 years, retired at 61, with two state pensions and social security survivors. at 67 started receiving my own social security, and continue to receive the two pensions. i've never regretted it, and never considered working a day longer than i felt was necessary for some financial security.
