An article in the Daily Finance by Dan Caplinger states that
Future retirees will receive lower benefits than we do (over 60)
How will that affect your retirement?
Luckily I'm over 60.

it is so vague it may not be even worth discussing at this stage. just another speculation. my opinion is only thing we will end up seeing is the full retirement age increase and payroll taxes go up. some options like file and suspend or restricted application may vanish as well.

Another reason to save even more.
Because what ever you DO have the government will either try to take half of it, or say you don't need as much as we promised you.

Nothing vague or speculative about it. Those who were born in 1954 are the last cohort with a full retirement age of 66. Folks born in 1954 are or will be 60 years old this year.

nothing new here.

this is how it always worked since they moved groups further out by age. if you retire early there is a bigger penalty since you have a later full retirement date.

those that retired before my group at 65 had less of a penalty than we do if they retired early at 62.

this really isn't anything different than it has been all along.
