I'm most likely 30 years away from retirement and this thread makes me insanely jealous!
A few years ago a group of us were chatting about age - two women in their mid twenties, and five of us late 50's+ (all retired). One of the young women asked us if we could magically go back to our 20's or 30's, would we? We all said no. I said I'd already done the 20's and 30's, why would I want to do it again? Besides, I'm retired, I can do what I want with my time. Everyone agreed.
The two young ladies looked unhappy and said they wished they could retire now!
How long have you been retired? After two or three months I have a hard time imagining that waking up and feeling glad one does not have to go to work could be considered a "highlight" of one's day.
I've been retired for a while now and every day I think about how wonderful it is not to have go into the office everyday and all that entailed. I doubt I will ever lose that feeling.
Highlight of the day today, we're driving out into the country for a 90th birthday party for a woman full of life and joy de vive. She runs circles around folks in their 50s. She has excellent taste so it will be fine wines and gourmet foods, catered, with music. When I was working FT this would have been just one more thing to try to fit into the calendar. Now it's a lovely leisurely thing to do on a Sunday afternoon. I wish everyone a great summer Sunday ~
He just brews chicory coffee according to instructions on package, along with one scoop of espresso grounds. A ****** of Bailey's in the bottom of a mug, pour in the brewed mix, top with warm frothed milk and cinnamon.
The frothing method depends upon where we are and what's on hand. We carry a small battery-operated stick when traveling but any small container with a lid, for shaking vigorously, will do in a pinch.
We do decaf and leave out the espresso sometimes, but the froth and Bailey's (or less pricey O'Mara's) are essential . It's quite the treat on a cold wintery afternoon.
Never heard of Community Coffee. Who makes it, where do you get it?
By mail order or Amazon. I prefer the former.
Community Coffee is a family run company based in Baton Rouge, LA. I discovered it because EVERY restaurant, every quickie mart in Louisiana was using that coffee. If you are going to order from them, sign up for the e-mail alerts as they run a lot of good sales with free shipping. Since they are based in LA ONLY, they do not charge sales tax.
Other coffees that I have used over the years with success:
San Francisco Bay Coffee Co. - very good coffee
Trader Joe's dark roast is also pretty good.
I have to admit that I have not had a cup of coffee since about June 23rd. When the temperatures are 105F in Tucson. my desire for coffee is diminished. When I return to the North Coast, that will change. (g)
Have you had your second cup yet? Can I ask where you get Peet's coffee...is that an Ozark specialty?
As already indicated it's a left coast coffee that originated in Bezerkeley (Berkeley), California. They have a mail order option. It's one of the only three good things to come out of the Bay Area, the other two being sourdough bread and Anchor Steam beer.
