It was 5 degrees (I know it was even colder where some of you live) when I woke up this morning and thought, it's still dark out, it's cold and I don't have to warm up the car or scrape the windshield because I'm retired and I don't have to go to work. In fact, I don't have to go outside at all today.
So, who thought of the benefit of being retired today because of the temperature where you live while you were casually having your morning coffee/tea/hot chocolate?
It was 8 this morning which wouldn't have been a big deal, other than we are kid sitting our grandchild and there's no school so now need to keep her busy!
I say "so glad I retired" every morning. Especially in winter. It's nice to sit, look out the window with my hot coffee, fire in the stove, and watch it snow knowing I don't have to go out and scrape my windshield and drive in it any more. In summer, when everyone is driving to their mundane jobs on Tuesday, I'm driving to my favorite trout lake for a day of fishing.
But it was a balmy 12 degrees this morning, so not too bad.
You all should have read my Facebook post a few days back when I posted that I cant wait to move south. I will not deal any more after that with half snow half rain. Ugh!!!
We woke up to an 'Arctic-feeling' 35-degree, bone-chilling cold this morning and thought, "Wow, did the A/C thermostat break or something?" Well, at least we are retired ... and no longer have to forge our way out onto the frozen tundra and rouse the sleepy sled dogs, so we can mush our way into the office. (Actually, we are 'suffering' significantly more from the frigid temperatures since we moved from Central Florida, where we lived for the past 40-years, ... to the frozen Florida Panhandle where we've lived for 3-years). ... But, it should reach about 55-degrees, before we are forced to crawl out of our igloos and face the world. I guess that's just the price one pays for moving "up North" after retiring.

Me too! We just retired a few months ago so it's still new. I love it! No more driving to work on dark icy roads. Instead I get to curl up on the couch with my coffee and watch the sunrise. So grateful for this life.
