Just curious how many of you retired posters have been asked for a loan from other retired co-workers/friends/relatives? Since you are on a budget do you occasionally give in? Or do you tell them tough luck fend for yourself?

No one has asked me.

I am not affluent, and most people who know me know that.

No, and they all know better to not ask.

Since I'm retired myself, no one asks me for a loan. On the reverse, I've never found it necessary to ask for a loan from anyone else, even when my first quote for chemo was $1,200.+ a month. (My youngest offered to pick up some extra work to help but I was able to find a better price)

Limited though my income may be, if someone needed money for an emergency (a cruise to the Bahamas isn't an emergency) I'd do what I could to help.

No. Why do you ask, is this something that's happening to you?

I still have a few decades to retire but I wonder those close to me who are not the biggest savers will end up asking me for a few loans near our retirement age. I wonder how common it is for those who have saved comfortably in retirement.

Not to offend, but this is hands down the most clueless question I've ever seen re future retirement.
Long story short, if your retirement ends up derailed, don't blame it on your friends. Blame it on your own ****-poor thinking and planning.

I have been fully retired now for 6 years and no one has asked me for money. The only person in my life that has borrowed money from me is my mother and that was more then 30 years ago.

BTW I have never borrowed money from any one!

If they did I'd say no.

Yes, with the understanding that they'd be changing their habits so this kind of situation wouldn't happen again.
Payments have been made steadily and they have adhered to their new budget for over a year and a half.
I was prepared to consider it a 'gift' instead of a 'lift' if all that hadn't happened.
