Probably should've posted this in the 'Paranormal' forum.
still have dreams about every week about being back at work
How about you?
You mean that one where my old boss is careening off a 2000' cliff and right before impact he turns around and in the back seat are 5 gal cans full of gasoline with a note that says' &^%$# YOU'. Nope never had that dream, nope not me.
No dreams about being back to work. Oh I've had a nightmare once in a while, even woke up in a sweat screaming. I dream about fishing, or camping, or riding a unicorn on a rainbow fluffy cloud made of cotton candy.
Interesting...
I took the subject line to mean "dreams" metaphorically, as in, 'do you wish you were working?'
I do have night dreams about being at work - often. In fact, did last night. Sometimes in the dream I am teaching - which is what I did.
Sometimes it is a bad dream - for ex I am in front of the class and no one is listening to me.
sometimes in the dream I have a boring (to me) job, such as working in an office (which I have done) or being on the assembly line (which I never have).
In real waking life, I do wish I could work.
I really liked my job.
And would do it for nothing.
I had a conversation with a very good friend about this the other day. He has been retired over ten years and said he has work related dreams frequently if not once a week certainly every two weeks. He went out on disability and is in a wheel chair. I shared I might have a work related dream once a year but couldn't remember the last one and when but who remembers most dreams? Do they? We found the difference interesting as I might have a dream more related to college than work and that was 45 plus years ago. I didn't think that overall I had dreams anywhere as often as he did. Not sure why but it may have something to do with a more holistic approach to many things and that transfers to the body at rest.
Me too! I retired from my full time job in June 2011, and I still have dreams about that job, and other jobs I've held over the years. The common thread in those dreams is that I can't do the job, I can't get to where I'm supposed to be, I don't have the equipment I need, my manager is ignoring me and for those earlier jobs, I can't get organized, people are working rings around me,
I worked for Royal Mail in England for over 20 years. I left there in 1992, but still dream about the job regularly. I would guess at least once a month. It's always the same thing. Everything in Royal Mail was about time, and chasing it. Certain things had to be achieved by a certain time. Always rushing. In the dreams something is constantly slowing me down, and stopping me completing a task. The situation varies, but it's always about delays of some kind or other. I have never dreamed about any other job I have had, just that one.
I just had one and they happen occasionally. I find when I'm under stress I have those dreams (air traffic control retiree) so that seems pretty normal to me.
Yes, I have working dreams/nightmares frequently. I retired in July 2016 after 40 years working as a nurse. I frequently have dreams about being late (I was obsessive about being on time), failing to do something that was critical, hurrying, that feeling of not being able to accomplish what I needed to in the time provided. I am always relieved when I wake up. My life in retirement is great, no stress, healthy and financially stable, I just don't get it.
