Please, vote in the poll only if you have already applied to receive Social Security retirement benefits. Comments welcome by all, of course.

My idea behind the poll is the lamentation in another thread about the probable lack of SS COLA this year. I figure those who rely on SS for a large part of their retirement income are those who are most concerned about the SS COLA. Those of us with very small SS benefits (i.e., a very low percentage of retirement income from SS) do not care about the SS COLA.

Is this one of those fancy polls that is only visible to those who receive SS? Because I'll be damned if I can see it.

No, sorry. You should be able to see it now. I was still creating the poll when you posted. (As nearly as I can figure out, one has to first create the original post for the thread, THEN add the poll to it.)

My income will not always be 100%. The monies I receive will be invested by my brother, who is a broker. So far I've received about 1/3 & most of that will go directly to his office. I am keeping back some for a security blanket. I haven't received all of it as we supposedly are waiting to see if there are other bills.

At the moment my SS is about 21% of my total income but that percentage will increase somewhere around the end of the year when my pension is cut by amount that the fund administrators are still working to determine.

Also interested in where the remainder will come from? Pensions or investments alone.

We are facing the same with my husband's pension. Mine is okay for now but who knows what the future holds? Since our SS and pension payments are the same each month and our cost of living has risen, no COLA means trimming back in certain areas. And if my husband's pension is drastically cut, we'll be feeling it even worse.

Due to loosing half my pensions fund in divorce in 1994, Social Security makes up 38% of my income. But even if I hadn't lost some, the percentage would still have been in the 30s, just lower, and worst of all I'd still have that wife!
