I am retired and living in my ninth state. Three of them I lived in more than once. Add in various cities within those states as well as three foreign countries and I believe I'm in my 35th or 36th home, much of that due to Uncle Sam.

Assure your husband that first of all, moving someplace different is survivable. Tell him it can be exciting and most of all, present it to him as a grand adventure because for him that's precisely what it will be. Perhaps he'll even get excited at the prospect.

This poor guy worked 47 years, failing health, give him a break. Change is difficult for people and after 47 years....well...I would side with him.
