we have a star system at home . every day i don't get a lecture about something i did or didn't do now that i am retired i get a star sticker on the calendar.
I believe 1800 rep points create a yellow star with green on top and ten stars with green on top create one with red on top. (Eight dark green little bars plus eight light green little bars plus eight yellow little bars equal one yellow star with green on top.)
Congrats! Now I am going to try to know what this is about but for sure it's a good thing !!
*and I don't have any. boo hoo.
Don't concern yourself with your number of stars; that's a function of how long you've been posting and how many posts you've made. After all, if you only have made a few hundred posts, you can't very well be expected to have earned thousands and thousands of rep points.
What's far more important in my mind is whether you have more rep points than posts; and on that front, you're off to a good start!

Yes she is. And I should have and not gloated but...... we all know we like to be known and liked.

Personally, on message boards, I value being quoted more than somebody clicking "like" to give me reputation points. It means I'm contributing to the discussion. I tend to get the most reputation point clicks for (what I think are) witty 1-liner comments that add zero value other than being entertaining. I'm on message boards as intellectual stimulation. The best-possible outcome of a discussion is that somebody quotes my post and puts up something that completely changes my opinion about a topic.
