If you have retired already, at what age did you retire?
As for me, I'm 65 now and will be 66 in December but I'm still reluctant to give it up.
My problem is that I like what I do. It keeps me busy and I'm paid well.
However, I'm now reading about friends who have died young and I'm beginning to think that I might regret not retiring earlier.

I'm still working because I feel like it.
I've had to many friends that retired at 65 and a year later they're dead.
I am going to work until the day comes when I just don't want to anymore.
I retired a few months before my 55th birthday, and still chugging along eight plus years later.
Folks don't just drop dead after retirement, even though I've often seen that comment. My dad retired nearly 23 years ago, and is still just fine. I also have many relatives and friends retired for over a decade, and not having any major health problems at all.
I had in my 30 years working at the same municipality, starting as a laborer and retiring at 55 as a department head. Moved to Florida and didn't look back!
I retire at 50, but needed a five year leave of absence so that I could officially retire at 55. That way I retained all company benefits such as retirement, profit sharing, 401K, stock options, free medical insurance for life.

That's not a problem. Rather, it's a great blessing. Why be concerned with what the majority of people do? Fear of an early death does not seem to me to be much of a reason.
Retired at age 61 ten years ago. Continued with two part-time moonlighting jobs (two days a week max) plus some limited special projects connected with my former employment. Didn't need the money, but enjoyed what I was doing. Gave up all those jobs one by one (except one) when I grew tired of them, i.e., when they started to feel like a chore instead of fun. The one is still fun - I work five weeks every summer (half time hours). Don't need the money from that one either; in fact the past few years I have been donating my net salary back to the non-profit which employs me.
